Amid shortage of subsidised residential care places for the elderly in Hong Kong, the Government, as stated in the 2014 Policy Address, plans to purchase places from elderly homes run by Hong Kong non-governmental organisations in Shenzhen and Zhaoqing, in a bid to provide an option for the elderly on the Central Waiting List.
The Centre’s weekly analysis examines the problems of retiring outside Hong Kong, and ponders how medical institutions operated by Hong Kong practitioners in the Mainland could help by making reference to the Centre’s study on ‘Primary Care Services in PRD Cities’.
