Over the past decade, the Individual Visit Scheme has boosted the number of Mainland visitors to Hong Kong, greatly benefiting local economic development and employment. However, the Scheme has also intensified social conflicts. The Centre’s weekly analysis examines the city’s tourism carrying capacity beyond the Government’s recently released assessment report and sets out areas to be reviewed in order to facilitate the healthy development of the tourism industry in Hong Kong.
