Hong Kong’s once-flourishing tourism industry propelled growth of the retail sector and created lots of related job opportunities. However, the tourism industry going through turbulent times in recent years has yet created more related jobs, even though visitor arrivals rebounded from a slump a few years ago. It is time for helping retail practitioners reinvent their careers, even though the pandemic will eventually end and the city will provide a warm welcome to international visitors again.
