The city’s aging concern: elderly suicide



The elderly deserve a good and joyful life after years of toil and sweat. Some of them, however, chose to end their lives prematurely. The Centre’s weekly analysis talks about suicide in the elderly, its possible causes and remedies. The article points out that depression is one of the culprits. As most victims had sought medical help, early awareness from medical personnel might prevent tragedies. Nevertheless, an aging population is straining the medical system, whether medical practitioners can still help prevent elderly suicide remains a concern.
