Social Impact Bond: a bond to make a better world?

Rolling out policies that bring social benefits and make a return on investment are worlds apart – except when it comes to Social Impact Bonds. The Centre’s weekly analysis uses an ongoing project at Her Majesty’s Prison Peterborough, United Kingdom, to introduce this special investment and its attraction to the British Government, social welfare organisations and investors. The article points out that Social Impact Bonds allow governments to pay only for proven social prevention measures, while the financial risks are borne by investors, and save resources through the adage ‘prevention is better than cure’.
