Opinion polls revealed a low regard for political parties amongst the public, but was it the fault of parties alone? The Centre’s weekly analysis highlights the low degree of support for political parties as well as the constraints of local political system that hinder political parties’ efforts to help govern Hong Kong. These restrictions include the lack of a ruling party and limited powers of lawmakers in Hong Kong . Such curbs on party politics could lead parties to bickering and becoming more radical.
