Emissions from marine vessels account for the majority of sulphur dioxide emissions in Pearl River Delta cities such as Hong Kong and Shenzhen. Tackling marine emissions requires regional cooperation, for example, introducing regulations that are applied across the board. The recently announced Greater Bay Area project offers an opportunity for such kind of regional cooperation.
