To reduce the long queues of patients, there have been suggestions of training other medical personnel to take up some of the doctor’s responsibilities. However, this involves a change in the division of labour amongst different medical personnel which may not be beneficial to public health. What our healthcare system needs right now is establishing family physician-led primary care teams with clearly defined roles, and educating the public on good practices of seeking medical attention.
