The Bauhinia Foundation Research Centre joined the Chatham House of the United Kingdom in organising a research conference last June to examine the development challenges and growth opportunities facing Hong Kong as an international financial centre of Greater China.


Well received by researchers and experts, the conference formed an integral part of the Chatham House’s international research report. To officially release its findings, a launch event was held in Hong Kong on 18 May.


Under Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Julia Leung, former Vice-chairman and Chief Executive of Hang Seng Bank Margaret Leung and Dean of Baptist University’s School of Business Prof. Stephen Cheung shared their comments on the report, followed by a roundtable facilitated by Research Director (International Economics) of the Chatham House Dr Paola Subacchi. Other speakers included Director of Friends of Bauhinia Rock Chen, CEO of FCC Partners (Taipei) and Chairman of Taiwan Mergers & Acquisitions and Private Equity Council C Y Huang, ICAEW’s Regional Director for Greater China James Lee, Deputy Director of CEIBS Lujiazui International Finance Research Centre Dr Gary Liu, as well as Chief Economist (Greater China) of Deutsche Bank Dr Jun Ma.
