Restructuring vocational education system: Exploring dual pathways to achieve career and educational aspirations

The study on ‘Realising your dreams through vocational education and training (VET)’ suggests ways to enhance the VET system through restructuring its academic pathways and restoring public confidence in VET. Our suggestions aim to help students develop their talents into strengths and reach full potential, thus building a vibrant talent pool to facilitate the city’s overall development.

The Centre released a new edition of an Occasional Paper ‘Assisting single parents to work and enhancing human resource development’, which aims to analyse the differences of proportion of working and monthly salary of single parents in terms of ‘personal characteristics’ and ‘family and housing characteristics’. It also probes different effects of each characteristic on the employment situation of single mothers and fathers.

The Centre has recently released an Occasional Paper on ‘How do Hong Kong’s senior secondary school students perceive capitalising on the opportunities in Mainland China?’, which serves as a pilot opinion survey on exploring the perception of local senior secondary school students on Mainland exchange and internship programmes, and their willingness to pursue further development in the Mainland in the next five years.
