Survey on public perceptions towards the rule of law in Hong Kong

The rule of law is the core value of Hong Kong society and an indispensable factor in maintaining the city’s long-term competitiveness. To gauge public views on the current situation of and perception changes in the rule of law in Hong Kong, the Centre has commissioned the CUHK to conduct the third round survey, which examines respondents’ opinions from five perspectives and 10 different aspects of the implementation of the rule of law.

Amid a growing public concern over the rule of law in Hong Kong, the Centre commissioned the CUHK to conduct a survey to gain a better understanding of public opinion on this subject. To assess and analyse public opinion in a rational and evidence-based manner, the survey gauges public views on the rule of law from four perspectives and 10 different aspects of the implementation of the rule of law.

The study on ‘From Consultation to Civic Engagement: The Road to Better Policy-making and Governance in Hong Kong’ aims to examine how best to engage with civil society actors and organisations in Government’s policy making process, and make recommendations to enhance such engagement in future public policy making in Hong Kong.
